If your pet requires surgery it all starts with an initial examination by one of our doctors. Usually blood work, physical exam and possibly even x-ray testing is done to identify the potential issue needing to be treated. Once a course of action has been decided between you and the doctor, surgery will be scheduled right away. Pre-op care, or care given before surgery, includes monitoring of heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels, otherwise known as vital signs. Sedation will be given to your pet so that they will remain calm and peaceful during surgery. Once your pet has made it through surgery, our staff will keep your pet warm and comfortable with medicine and comfortable surroundings. Their vital signs will be monitored anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the scale of surgery performed. Once our staff deems your pet stable to go home to recuperate you will be given all post-op instructions and a follow up appointment will be given.
